That fateful night…Friday, 13 April. 0200hrs.
Singapore
Walker
‘Zzzzzzz… Zzzzzzz…’. Allen groggily woke up from his phone’s vibration from the incoming message.
‘Why the heck is a message coming in so early?’ he mumbled to himself. Flipping open the handphone, the display screen showed: “Catherine,1 message.” Hmm…he mused. She as few reasons why she could send a message so early in the morning. Lets see why.
In contrast to the previous days’ messages, this was badly typed out. Not like her. Walker was albeit nervous. Ovur tn m hre fas nd hp. There was no explanation whatsoever. He deducted that the whole message should be like: Over to my house fast, need help. He shivered at the thought of her needing his help, so late at night. Or maybe it was a progress in their relationship, she needing him so late in the night.......Whatever.. Lets just go.
En route to her house, he discovered a blade. A katana, to be exact. Hmm… nice blade, but no same guy would leave a blade lying outside on my doorstep.. Fine, I’ll just take it.
Running to her house, his ears picked out sounds of distant collapses of material nearby. He made haste and sprinted instead. The next scenes horrified him.
There was at least seven of those monstrosities chasing after her. They had a visible scar across their face, running usually diagonally, but some have it vertically or horizontally. They carry humane looks, but are nowhere near being human. Bloodshot and bulging eyes, deathly white skin and contorted facial features. They possess bulging muscles and weapons. Knifes, blades, guns, axes-- you name them, they carry them. They are also not limited to one single weapon. They have many other weapons slung around, or half-tucked into their tearing pants.
Suddenly, I noticed that my blade (finders keepers, bleh) started glowing through its cover. Not just that, it also started vibrating. Well, that’s new, I mused. A blade vibrating and shining. Any more special effects? ¹
Then he saw her. If not for the critical situation, he would already have killed himself² for not noticing her. She was running away from the devils, but it was as fleeting as a wisp of smoke from a fog. He watched horrifically as she was being chased after the demons.
It was time to end that.
With a hell of a battle cry, he brandished his sword and charged.
